Mycenaeans (2000 BC)
-Mycenae is located on a rock ridge and protected by a 20 ft thick wall
-Myc. kings dominated Greece 1600-1200 BC
-controlled trade in the region
-1400 BC they invaded crete, absorbed Minoan culture/language
-1200 BC "sea people" invade Mycenae (burned stuff)
-Dorians moved in (less advanced)

-lived at the end of the dark ages
-The Iliad - the Trojan War
-The Odyssey - Odysseus attempt to return home, made Poseidon angry (God of the Sea)
-Is Homer just mythical?
